Organic hotelier and World Cook Award winner Christel & Gabi Kurz

Christl Kurz from Berchtesgaden is one of the international pioneers of vegetarian cuisine. When the word “organic” was still unknown and organic vegetables were considered exotic, Christl Kurz was right in the middle of the action and made vegetarian cooking a part of her life and a family matter. For more than 40 years now, Christl has been influencing the vegetarian culinary scene together with her daughter Gabi. Gabi Kurz carried this passion “from the meadow into the desert” to the Persian Gulf in 2007: to Dubai, working as Resort Wellbeing Chef at Madinat Jumeirah. Since 2019, mother and daughter have been back to Berchtesgaden more often, unless Gabi is working internationally as a consultant and coach.

Contribution

The artist duo wants to inspire visitors to approach the “green stuff” far away from white plates from a different perspective and to explore the direct influence of food on their own body. Their five-part work piece “Elements of Life” illustrates the different beneficial effects of food on our organism. The room installation is interactive and invites you to compose your own vegetarian menu from the raw products depicted on the wooden cubes, which bring body, mind and soul into balance and keep them healthy. Findings after one round of “rolling the dice”: “You are what you eat.“
